The Wedding was absolutely gorgeous. The Bride and her two brothers lost their Mother to cancer years ago...so it was a very touching moment when the brothers (who were both groomsmen) took the beautiful bride to the Memorial Candle and lit it together. I was fighting back the tears in preparation of singing...but it did me no good. They came anyway. The first of many that came that day. It was so beautiful to see a young couple in love...the kind of love that God intends for us to share. Congratulations to Stephanie and Jeff...may you have years of happiness! What God has brought together...let no one separate.
After the Wedding, I drove over to Bishop Carrol where the Twilight Walk was already in motion. People were buzzing around...and the wind was knocking over everything that wasn't taped or fastened down. You could see the stress on the faces of my friends...but it was all in all, a VERY GOOD night. We work so hard putting this event together...just hoping and praying that someone will come. And we had a lot of 'someones' come that night. It was beautiful. The balloon launch before the walk is always so touching...so again, I was in tears. And these were the kind that you can't possibly hold back. I was so glad I had some sunglasses to put on...big ones! At the end of the night, we always watch a tribute video in memory of Kyrie Thome who lost her battle to pediatric brain cancer...and in honor of those children who are fighting that battle today. We do it for both...those who have lost and allowed us to gain so much in their absence...and those who are still with us...fighting every single day. Needless to say...what a night! I will post some pics taken by my sis and friend as soon as I get them...and will announce our overall fundraising goal as soon as I get the information. Thanks so much to all who donated. Your generosity is appreciated beyond words. Go Kyrie Go!
On that note...I'd like to introduce a new foundation that I just recently stumbled upon via facebook. The Layla Grace Foundation. A good friend of mine's husband works for (and Owns!) a company called JustinMcClureTV and has been doing some design and website work for this brand new foundation. A co-worker of his has been putting some information on facebook about the foundation...so of course, I started reading about it. Layla Grace was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and passed away in March of 2010. Her parents, much like Kyrie's family, decided to start a foundation in her name that would raise money for research and to help the families of those who are fighting this disease. The Layla Grace Foundation (founded in Texas) is focusing on all high risk childhood cancers (which happens to include pediatric brain cancer, I believe) and Layla's Dad will be coming to Wichita this week to work with Justin on their website. Coincidence? I think not. The Kyrie Foundation may get to come together with the Layla Grace Foundation sometime this week to discuss our similarities and share in their stories. I believe God has a hand in this one...no other explanation. If you know me...or even know me through blogging, you know how important the Kyrie Foundation is to my heart. I am invested...fully. Because I have been blessed beyond measure with three healthy children. Because of their health...I fight for those who are not. Because of their strength...I fight for those who are weak. Because I can hug them every single day...I fight for those who can no longer hug their children. Won't you join us? God has a plan...

Have a Blessed Monday and thanks again to all who came out, donated, or made yourselves aware of Kyrie's story in the past few weeks.

Good blog today! Great way to tie a wonderful weekend back to the blessings from our Lord. You are right - we all need to fight for those who are not able! Your dad and I and your sister and her family join you in this fight. Thank you for reminding us how important it is to use our talents and our love from God to focus on helping others in need. We are proud of your efforts in this fight!
Love you - mom
