Proverbs 18:24
A man with many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Yesterday Tanner and I attended the Sunrise Service for our church put on by our Youth. They did a skit and it was just soooo good!
Three young girls were standing around being 'normal' and Jesus walks up. They immediately make their body like a cross and start throwing out random bible verses, songs and quotes about the Almighty God...Lord and Savior.
Jesus tries to talk to them, but they are too busy being 'Good Christians' to notice. He tries to make conversation and they just keep singing His praises. So Jesus says...if that is all you want from me, fine. And He made His body like the cross and stood silently...ignoring the girls.
Eventually, Jesus went on to make real conversation with one of the girls and made her realize how well He knows her...really, truly knows her.
The skit hit home for me and they did such an Awesome job.
How many times do we focus on singing Him praises and not just having a relationship with Him? Both are equally important. He is the Almighty God...Maker of Heaven and Earth, Savior and Lord...Awesome God! But He is also our friend. He wants to be the all knowing and all powerful...and the relatable God. He wants us to know that even though He made the sun and the stars, He also made our hearts. He knows what makes us happy, what makes us sad...and the next steps we are going to take. He sits with us when we cry and He smiles when we laugh.
So the next time you have a little quiet time with God, try just talking to Him like He's your best friend. Knowing that He knows more than we give Him credit for.

You are so right, Amy. From the beginning of man in the Garden of Eden, all God has wanted is to walk among us. He wants to dwell with us like a friend. In the Old Testament, Jesus spoke to Moses as a friend... I value my earthly friendships so much, I don't know why I so often put a barrier up between God and myself. Probably because I think I don't measure up, but He doesn't care. He just wants to have an intimate relationship with EACH AND EVERY ONE of His children. Awesome.
