Step Out

Have you ever felt so uneasy about something that you decided not to do it?  Or you went ahead and did it, but did it with such little effort that you failed miserably?  Rest assured you are not the only one.  People have been doubting the Lord for some time now. 

Matthew 14:30
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"


Sometimes when the Lord asks us to step out of our comfort zone...we say "No thank you".  Or, we say..."Fine, if I have to".  When we take on that attitude with the commands he gives, we will no doubt sink.  He says everyday to trust Him in our lives.  We do...but do we all the way?  Do we trust Him with every decision?  Do we fully give our concerns and our worries to Him?  If not, we should start.  It is a lot easier to trust Him when we aren't weighed down by all that doubt. 

27But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."


28"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."

29"Come," he said

Peter challenged Jesus by saying, "Lord, if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water."  So Jesus said..."Come".  Peter believed for a short while it would work.  But the wind came up and he became afraid.  He let the doubt fill his mind and heart and he fell into the water.  It happens to all of us.  We let the fear and doubt creep in, and all of a sudden, we are sinking.  God says, I am here to pull you out.  Just ask.  Or better yet...Just believe in me.

Someone once told me worrying is like saying..."I don't trust you"...to God.  I would not want to say that to His face.  Believing in God is about taking risks and proving your trust in Him.  It is about sharing His love with others.  Are you willing to step out?
