Say What?

I was reading in my bible last night in the book of Joshua. I found an interesting story about the battle of Jericho...and it reminded me of some times in my life. Has God ever instructed you to do something that you feel is almost impossible? Has he ever guided your life in a direction that you feel is confusing or just doesn't make sense? It has happened to me several times and in reading about this battle, I now know that that concept is something he has done to many.

The Lord said..."You shall march around the city, all you men of war, you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days...But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets...All the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat..."
Joshua 6:2~5

Say What? The Israelites were confused. They had been told to march around the city of Jericho saying nothing. Just marching. And not only that, but for seven days. And on the seventh day, He instructed them to walk again and then shout. All the words they'd been holding in for six days...all the frustrations...all their praise...just shout. And guess what...the wall crumbled.

An excerpt from my Women of Faith bible says this...

Sometimes God asks us to have that same faith. We face walls---circumstances we can't conquer-and God tells us to walk-just trust Him with the details, and keep on walking when we can't see the point. Even when we'd rather discuss the matter or file a few grievances first. God just asks us to have enough faith to keep on walking. The Victory will be His. Christa Kinde

How true is that? We face walls almost daily. Some seem smaller and some seem like next to impossible to conquer. But God tells us we CAN. And he promises us the reward if we simply trust. Walk with him. Trust him. Follow him...and the wall will come crumbling down. Unbelievable? Nope...Believable? Yep...that's our God.

For I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
