Last night as we went to the Meet the Teachers for all three boys...sniff, sniff...I started looking around at all of the Mommies (&Daddies), that were there. It was chaos...simply chaos. Kids were everywhere nervously smiling and putting their supplies in their desks...the older boys were already acting "too cool"...and at the preschool, it took everything I had not to fall to pieces at the thought of Brady Michael being almost 4 and in preschool. My heart was heavy with the sadness that I think most of us experience at this time of year. Either we are sending our kids to preschool, their first year of Kindergarten...Middle or High School...or we are dropping them off at college. I have friends in all categories this year...and last night my eyes wandered to them. I thought...here I am being sad...and just sulking in my own sadness. When there are other women out there that need to be lifted up for these very same reasons.
When I was in Middle School, I sang a song at church called 'Pray for Me' by Michael W. Smith. I remember singing it when our Youth Pastor decided to leave the church. He was so important to me and I was so sad when he decided to move on to make a change in his life. I remember almost feeling like he didn't want us anymore...knowing now more than ever that wasn't the case. But my heart was broken. And the song seemed rather appropriate for our parting ways.
Today I want to share it with you in a different sense. As I laid there last night...I started naming off people in my head who I knew needed prayers for the upcoming week. And this song just came to me...(Totally a God thing). So all of you out there who are stressing over school drop offs...here you go.
Here is where the road divides
Here is where we realize
The sculpting of the Father's great design
Thru' time you've been a friend to me
But time is now the enemy
I wish we didn't have to say goodbye
But I know the road He chose for me
Is not the road he chose for you
So as we chase the dreams we're after
Chorus:
Pray for me and I'll pray for you
Pray that we will keep the common ground
Won't you pray for me and I'll pray for you
And one day love will bring us back around again
Now obviously...my children are just going to school. I realize that. But my heart tells me more...they aren't 'just' going to school...things are changing. Time keeps moving. And my heart goes out to all the Mommies and Dad's out there who's hearts are knowing the very same thing. So.......
Pray for Me...and I'll Pray for You.
Kim...I will be praying extra hard for you this week as you move Corbin. I cannot and will not be able to discuss this with you face to face. For some reason, I cannot hold back the tears and am rather hard to understand while crying. :) I love you...and am praying for you.
Have a Blessed Day!

Dang it!!! You could have put a warning in the title like "WARNING...read BEFORE applying makeup"
Well, my dear, guess you finally are beginning to understand the emotional side of being a parent! I wonder if this is the same way God feels when we stray or move on or have difficulty making time for him? I'm sure it is, but the wonderful thing about God is that he never waivers from his love for us just as we do for our children. He has taught us well if we follow his words.
Smile - these are the memories that you treasure later on in life! Love you - mom
oh, and one of my memories is when you sang Pray for Me . . . it was a great moment! Through tears you sang and you were so brave as you have been many times when you sang for a cause, from the heart, with a purpose in mind! God smiled that day too! Love you - mom
As God would have it, this is exactly what I am preaching on this Sunday. Coincidence?? I think not!

I remember the Sunday you sang that song for Barry! I've thought of it often as things change and friends move on. Thanks for you blog Amy! I love you girlie!
Oh how I loved listening to Michael W. Smith in HS. I remember that song very well - and I agree that it applies to many different points in our lives. Thanks for bringing back the memories:)
