Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”- Psalm 27:14
Sometimes I wake up on Monday morning and think...What Just Happened? Our weekends lately have completely taken over our lives. Self inflicted of course as we continue to stack one activity on another...but good grief! But here we are...we survived another weekend of craziness...and our week doesn't look much less chaotic.
So Friday night at the football game, one of our boys got into a fight with another boy his age. I believe it was over something really important like..."football". (How'd you guess, right?) Come to find out, my son said some pretty ugly things to the other boy and it really hurt the other boys feelings.
Saturday morning, the phone rings. It was the other kid's Momma.
Dang it child.
So...Coach and I do what we have to do to deal with the situation and after all was said and done, I prayed while I washed dishes at the sink.
Lord, I love you. And I tell people that I love you every single day. But I am not sure I have done such a good job sharing about you with the boys. I think in my mind they are all just little. But the truth is they are growing up. They are not so little anymore and I have to stop teaching them the songs in Sunday school and start focusing on the things in life that will make them good men. Because without a kind, loving, compassionate heart...they are nothing. Lord...give me the words to help them today. Because before I know it...they'll be gone. And my work will be done. Help me lead them. Help me guide them. Help them to understand your love and how to share it with others...in a world where it isn't shared enough. Amen
And as God would have it...as I pulled up www.biblegateway.com, the verse that day was this...
Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
I called my child over to the computer and said..."read this".
And he did.
And I told him...no matter what ANYONE on this earth thinks of the way you acted the other night...what God thinks...matters.
May the words of your mouth...and the meditations of your heart...be pleasing to Him.
Every word. Every action. Every thought. May they be intentional...and invitational...and pleasing to the Lord.
If you live your life speaking, thinking and acting as a reflection of God...you'll be a good man. And that is all we can ask for. From this moment on...be better than you were before because you have God in your heart.
And that was it.
Okay well I may have ended it with...
AND if you EVER act like this again...your Xbox will never see the light of day again. :) Now...go run the sweeper.
Awwwww, kids. Gotta love em, right? Thank goodness God loves me when I make mistakes.
Have a blessed day all!

So, the xbox huh . . . seem to remember threatening you with your cabbage patch dolls and your "boom box"! Guess it works! I love the word of God - it is in deed for the people of God. His people - those he knows will need him. We all need a reminder of this verse - should write this one on an index card and carry it for a while . . . yep - tell him even Mimi needs a reminder once in a while! Love you -
Mom
I'm sure you've heard Phillips craig and dean's "Praise of my heart" song. :) that verse must be where they got it!
I can't help but laugh, though, your topics are serious. And what really stinks, is when you are trying to give those talks, and your child is able to say, "but mom, remember the other day when you.........." Yeah. OUCH. I'm always being watched. STALKERS.
