Last night while I was working the fireworks stand, my friend Karon and I started talking about all that has been going on around us with the accidents, the death of a dear friend of hers and Logan's heart transplant. We were discussing the whys of what has been happening and what we would like to ask God when we get to Heaven.
I was updating Karon on Kjerstin's MRI results and told her that I wasn't even sure what to pray for anymore. She agreed that it seemed like an uphill battle, but she reminded me of something that I may have forgotten this week.
God is a miracle worker.
Sometimes I pray for his will. Sometimes I pray that the family will not have to suffer anymore pain. I wanted so many times to pray for a miracle...but the realistic side of me was getting in the way. The prognosis for Kjerstin has been grim since she got to the hospital on Sunday...the Dr.s didn't give her much of a chance to live...the family was devastated beyond belief...and I just prayed that God would be with them. Just be with them...wrap your arms around them and catch them as they fall. Stand for them when they cannot...cry with them...help them to find peace in whatever the situation. Not once did I pray for that miracle. I was reminded last night that our God is a miracle worker. And I thought to myself...
Why haven't I prayed for a miracle? Why haven't I put my faith the very God who created this child to save her? Why did I not ask him to save her life?
I think I was so focused on praying for God to be with those hurting around Kjerstin that I forgot to pray for God to heal her...physically and spiritually. So here it is...to My God who is Mighty to Save...in whatever way he is going to save her...
Lord...I am praying that you perform one of your miracles in Kjerstin. I am asking that if it is your will...for you to save her. Help her to heal and help others come to you as you work in Kjerstin. Allow this circumstance to glorify you and to bring Kjerstin the healing that she needs to come back to her family that loves her so much. God, I believe in you. I trust in you. I know that you conquered the grave...and that with you...anything is possible.
Amen
One of my favorite worship songs is Mighty to Save by Hillsong. I have added it to the playlist and I just ask that you listen to the words and allow yourself to find in Him what he is wanting you to find. Have a blessed day!

The very, very first blog I ever read was about a baby in need of a heart transplant. My friend (Zachary's mom) met her family when they were in Michigan for to deliver Zachary and have his 1st open heart surgery. Michelle (Zachary's mom) sent the blog link and asked us to pray for this baby, Lindsay. She had spent her entire life in a hospital and needed a transplant in order to live. She was close in age to Emily and I was overwhelmed by the story. I simply couldn't imagine being in her mom's shoes. In all honesty, like you, the realistic side of me almost caused me to avoid praying for a miracle for her, or even following her journey. I was afraid that it wouldn't happen. Afraid she would die. She was so sick and time did not seem to be on her side. But I did pray for a miracle. And so did lots of other people. And today, she is a happy and healthy 2 year old! I told her mother that I am so glad that I didn't let fear stop me from praying for her or from following her journey. If I had, I would've missed the "ordinary miracle" that occurred in her life! All this to say that even though God's plan will ultimately prevail in all circumstances, even when it is different than what we pray for, we absolutely can ask him to show his power and might and perform a miracle right before our eyes. I'm with you... praying for a miracle! And he WILL heal her... we just have to wait to see whether it is on this side of Heaven or not!
