A Glimpse

Exodus 33:19

When we face big challenges, what do you think our faces show?

Fear?

Exhaustion?

Uncertainty?

My face is sometimes a dead give away for how I am feeling.  There is one person in this world who knows my face better than anyone and that person is my Mom.  She has always known immediately when something is bothering me by taking one look at my face.  It is a mom thing I would imagine.  I can look at the boys and see the same thing.  I know when their feelings are hurt...when they are feeling defeated...whey they are fighting mad...and when something is on their mind.

My devotion today talked about catching a glimpse of the glory of God.  When Moses was up in the mountain, God came to him, but wouldn't allow him to see his face.  He spoke to him, but didn't let him look at him.  Moses caught just a glimpse of God as he was disappearing in the distance.

When Moses came down from the mountain, people could see something on his face.  He was showing the glory of God.  Max Lucado said:

Witnesses saw not anger in his jaw or worry in his eyes, or a scowl on his lips; they saw God's glory on his face.

Moses had big challenges ahead of him, but he didn't show that on his face.  He instead showed the glory of God to the people.

Perhaps this is something we should consider when facing a challenge in our own lives.  Are we to worry and fret and show our fear to others through our actions and words?  Or are we to turn to God and ask for him to help us in moving toward that challenge with him?  When we let go and let God...we can relax our faces and show others how powerful his love can be.

Happy Friday!
