I want...

I added the Hippopotamus for Christmas song as a favor to my Mom. She requested an upbeat Christmas song and I immediately thought of this song.

There is a story behind it...

Almost 12 years ago, when my sister was pregnant with her first child, this song became quite relevant. Sister was less than 6 weeks from giving birth and she had a condition called preeclampsya (have absolutely NO idea how to spell that). She was less than amused with my Mom and I's constant asking if she was "feeling anything"...and our constant touching of her stomach drove her nuts. But in the last trimester of your pregnancy...pretty much everything makes you nuts. Awwwww...I can remember so vividly how she would glare at me when I would even graze her arm as I walked by...okay maybe she wasn't that bad...but the glare totally happened. :)

But...my Mom decided to torture her that year by constantly singing this song. It was every chance she got. And she would belt it out at the top of her lungs...Oh dear...looking back, it was hilarious...but at the time it was less than funny to my very pregnant sister who no doubt felt much like a hippopotamus.

So my sister did what any mature daughter would do...and she went out and bought my Mom a stuffed hippopotamus for Christmas. When Mom opened the gift, she laughed til she cried...and Chele had much satisfaction in watching her come to tears.

And that...is how we roll. It is called revenge...and it is ugly. But sometimes in this family, it is completely necessary.

My very first sweet nephew was born about 5 weeks later and we were so happy to have him in the family. He was the first baby on either side of Coach and I's family and he helped transition into our own family that started just 8 months later with Big.

We have such great Christmas memories with our families and I am so looking forward to making more in the next few days.

I sure wish we still had that hippopotamus. :)

Have a blessed day!
