More Beautiful You

For the first time since we have been married, coach decided to get new glasses. He has had the same old crooked glasses as long as I have known him, but he has only worn them at night and the occasional Sunday to church. So we went to eye masters and broke the mold last weekend. You get two pairs for $100, so we got him a kind of trendy pair and a pair that he felt totally comfortable in. After we picked them up the next day, he tried on the pair that I picked out (trendy) and said of course, he wasn't sure if liked them. They were "too different". He tried on his pair and of course, felt very comfortable. They both look nice, but I like the ones I picked BECAUSE they are different. Anyway, this week, we're driving and he is just so worried that people will notice how different they are. I said to him..."being confident in your look is half the battle". If you like them and you wear them like you like them, others will notice that you look good. If you walk around like you think you look weird, people will notice that too. Okay...taking a turn in my story...A couple of weeks ago, I put on a sweater that goes to my mid thigh area. It is gray and I love it. But, I feel like it makes my hips look big. So this is our convo that morning...
Me: Does this sweater make my hips look big?
Coach: Ugh...(load moaning noise)
Me: No I am serious. When you look at me, do you think...Oh Cute Sweater? or do you think...Oh...she has big hips?
Coach: I honestly don't know what to say.
Me: Forget it.
And guess what. I didn't wear the sweater. Here I am telling coach to be confident and I am such a hypocrite. One morning, coach came in from his workout and he pulled up a song on my computer. I put it on my play list and anyone who is having insecurities about their physical appearance, please listen to the words. So, he pulls up this song on my laptop and said it reminded him of me. I listened and cried. What a beautiful thought. What a wonderful man. What a ridiculous thing that I wouldn't wear the sweater that I loved so much in the store because of my hips.
The other day, our 3 year old was walking around with a magnifying glass. My very pregnant friend Trista asked Brady if he could please find her waistline because she had lost it. I just about fell over laughing because it is soooo true. Somewhere along the last 12 years I have totally lost my figure. I look at young girls and wonder which one of them stole my figure...lol. Because someone took what I used to look like and I hardly recognize myself anymore. A few extra lbs...check. Cellulite...check. Stretch marks...check. Three healthy boys that have made my life full and frustrating and full again...check. The song says this...You were made to serve a purpose, that only you could do...there could never be a more Beautiful you. Love that. So guess what...I am about to leave for church wearing my gray sweater. And coach has on his trendy glasses...because we are beautiful people. Not because of the glasses or the sweater, but because we are God's and he doesn't make junk. Have a blessed day.
