Time for Change

I always hate it when I get out of the habit of blogging.  It happens every now and again.  I don't even know it is happening until it's been weeks.  And like anything else, I think...I'll get back to it...tomorrow.  Tomorrow comes and goes and the kitchen counters are still piled with stuff.  The assignments are still halfway done.  The organizational project is almost finished.  And the blog is still not written.  Such is life.  My personality is such that I am somehow always "okay" with this unfinished business.  I don't know why...and I certainly don't know how.  In fact, sometimes I feel like I am the minority in my friends and family.  Others stay up late to finish tasks.  Some get up early to get a start on their To Do list.  While mine remains...somewhat unchecked.  And I'm okay with this.

I'm okay with this???

Truth be told, I have to be.  Our schedule doesn't allow me to get too worked up about unfinished business. Just when I get something started, I have someone to pick up or take to a practice.  We have a game to attend or a class to finish.  Life...happens...in the middle of all of my business.  And so we struggle to finish anything completely.  And that's okay.

Justification.  Check.

We've been spring breaking here at the Nelson house.  We've organized and reorganized.  We've made messes and we've almost cleaned them up.  We've baseball practiced and spent time at the park.  We've worked on homework and we've done a lot of "nothing". Coach does not deal well with this environment.  He is as structured as they come and doesn't deal well with lack of said structure.  So...it is time for us to return to life as normal.  Or is it?

To be completely honest with you, I'm not sure what normal is anymore.  We are constantly moving in the direction of change.  I've moved the furniture as much as I possibly can to deal with the coming changes in our lives and still...have very little peace.

It's time for change.

Oh dear...

What I remembered this morning though is that it is also time for Easter.

Finally...the peace I've been looking for.  That wonderful time of year when we remember what Jesus did for us.  The sadness and the unsettling feeling of the impending death of Jesus...is brought to life with his resurrection.  I wonder what Jesus felt when he knew change was coming for him?  I don't have to wonder for long.  I'm sure he was scared...and nervous...and anxious...and in a way...unwilling to change.  But he knew...ultimately that the change would better his life.

Thy will be done.

Those words are so hard to say sometimes in our lives.  Thy will...not MY will.  MY will would be for things to be happy and always stay the same.  MY will would be for us to have very few challenges and for projects to magically finish themselves.  However...I've followed MY will before and it didn't get me very far.  It wasn't until HIS will...that I found the love of my life.  It wasn't until HIS will that I realized how much I would love my sons.  It wasn't until HIS will that I returned to college to face perhaps the biggest change of my life.

TRUSTING HIS WILL...can be so hard.

I don't like hard.

But...it's time for change.

Who's with me???
